MAYFLOWER [1]. Old-Time, Breakdown. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. A traditional tune recorded by Alabama fiddler Charlie Stripling [1] (1896-1966) for Decca in 1936. Charlie was born in Kennedy, Pickens County, west Alabama, and was one of the most renowned (and certainly most-recorded) fiddlers of the 78 RPM era. The tune, according to Lee Stripling (via Seattle fiddler Vivian Williams, who recorded him), was once a popular one in Alabama. "Ebenezer" is a related melody.
