McCLELLANTOWN HORNPIPE. AKA and see "Honeycomb Rock (The)," "Rowan Tree (1) (The)," "Push about the Jorum (1)," "Rattle the Bottles (1)." Old-Time, Breakdown. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB'. A local title whose name was taken from a town in Fayette County, Pa. (Bayard). Bayard also prints another southwestern Pa. version as "Honeycomb Rock (The)," along with an untitled cognate reel (#12), obviously from a more southern old-time tradition. All appear to be derived from a British tune family that includes "Push about the Jorum (1)," "Rattle the Bottles (1)" and "Rowan Tree (1) (The)."

Source for notated version: Emery Martin, Dunbar, Pennsylvania, October 14, 1943 (learned from his father) [Bayard].

Printed sources: Bayard (Dance to the Fiddle), 1944; No. 11B. Cole (1000 Fiddle Tunes), 1940; p. 12 ("The Rowan Tree"), p. 48 ("Rattle the Bottles"), p. 122 ("Push About the Jorum" {Strathspey version}). Kerr (Merry Melodies), No. 113 (appears as "Push About the Jorum").
