MEMORIES OF JOHNNY MACLEAN. Canadian, Reel. Canada, Cape Breton. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). ABB'. Composed by fiddler Jerry Holland (1955-2009, Inverness, Cape Breton) in honor of well-respected fiddler and step-dancer Johnnie "Washabuck" MacLean. He was the son of "Red" Rory MacLean (son of Donald, son of Roderick, a piper and the original immigrant to the island). MacLean played on CJCB radio in Sydney, Cape Breton, and hosted numerous house parties in his Toronto home during the 1960s. His son, John MacLean is a world champion piper and a sought after piping instructor.
