MERMENTAU WALTZ. Cajun, Waltz. USA, southwestern Louisiana. A Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). One part. Raymond Francois (1990) identifies this as a relatively modern song originally recorded by Dunice P. Theriot. Mermentau, an Indian name, is a town in southwest Louisiana on the banks of the Mermentau River. See also note for "Valse de Quatre-Vingt-Dix-Neuf Ans."
