MERRY LADS OF BANFF. Scottish, Reel (cut time). F Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). John Glen (1891) finds the earliest appearance of the tune in print in Robert Ross's 1780 collection (p. 14), but it also appears in Edinburgh publisher Neil Stewart's A Select Collection of Scots English Irish and Foreign Airs Jiggs & Marches (1788, Part 2, p. 72).
