MILKING PAIL, THE. English (whole time). C Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). William Chappell (1859) says that, while the air is sometimes claimed as Scottish, it has an English provenance. The tune also appears in Andrew Barton's The Disappointment, or the Force of Credulity (1767).
