MILKMAIDS OF BLANTYRE, THE. AKA and see "Wren," "Lanox Love," "Lenox Love to Blantyre," "Lennox Love," "Lennox's Love to Blantyre," "Three Milkmaids of Blantyre." Scottish, Reel. G Mixolydian. Standard tuning (fiddle). John Glen (1891) finds the earliest appearance of this tune in print in Robert Bremner's 1757 collection. Northumbrian musician William Vickers entered a nearly identical setting in his 1770 music manuscript collection as "Lanox Love [1].
