MILLIE GODGER. AKA - Millie Goodger. Shetland, Air. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). One part. "This tune was learned from the late Bobby Jamieson of Cullivoe, Yell, who said that this may have been a Mill tune, N.B., 'See Mill (Da)', No. 36 Haand Me Doon Da Fiddle. The late Peter Moar was of the opinion that the original title may have been 'Mill O' Gutcher' (Gutcher is the neighboring town to Cullivoe). This is published unbarred with pulses which seems to give a better sense of the rhythm" (Anderson). The asymmetrical tune is not played for dancing, according to Peter Cooke, but is played for listening.
