MILLSTONE [1], THE. AKA and see "Milestone (1) (The)," "Cailín Fionn (An)," "College Grove (The)," "Connacht Reel (1) (The)," "Cottage Grove (The)," "Green Jacket (The)," "Miss Corbett's Reel," "Whiskey in the Jar," "Whiskey in the Jug," "New Domain (The)," "New Demense (1) (The)," "Connacht Reel (1) (The)," "Old Locks and Quays of Galway (The)." Irish, Reel. D Major/Mixolydian. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABBCCDD. The reel was first recorded under this title by James Morrison (1893−1947, born in Drumfin, County Sligo), although it is better-known nowadays under the name "Cottage Grove (The)." It was included in the c. 1865 manuscript collection of the Gunn family of County Fermanagh under the title "New Demense (The)," but even earlier variants are to be found in 18th century Scottish collections as "Miss Corbett's Reel."
