MIRACULOUS HEN AND THE BROKEN-LEGGED CHICKEN, THE. Northumbrian. The title appears in Henry Robson's list of popular Northumbrian song and dance tunes ("The Northern Minstrel's Budget"), which he published c. 1800. There is a bawdy song called "The Cuckold's Cap" that features Joan, the miller's wife's "miraculous hen," but no broken-legged chicken.
