MISS BAIGRIE [2]. Scottish, Reel. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. Composed by Robert Baillie (1853-1939), the grandson of famed fiddler Peter Baillie (1774-1841) of Loanhead, the 'fiddling tinker' (for whom see Miss Baigrie (1)). The music manuscripts of Robert Baillie, as well as some works by his grandfater, can be found at the National Library of Australia, having been brought to that country by Robert's son, Robert "Ballantyne" Baillie (1886-1954), who was a professional musician in Australia most of his working life. "The collection also includes correspondence from Robert Baillie to his son in Australia giving playing advice, and a selection of music collected by the younger Baillie whilst in Australia, including material composed in Ballarat in 1870."
