MISS BETTY MACLEAN'S REEL. Scottish, Reel (cut time). C Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. "Miss Betty MacLean's Reel" and "Miss Betty MacLean's Strathspey" were composed by Islay fiddler-composer Alexander Mackay (b. 1773). Clan MacLean is a long history with the Inner Hebridean island of Islay. Mackay's collection is variously dated, and his date of death is unknown.
