MISS EDMONDSTONE OF NEWTON. AKA - "Miss Edmonstone of Newton's Strathspey." Scottish, Strathspey. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. The melody was composed by Biography:William Shepherd (17?? - 1812), an Edinburgh musician, composer and music publisher. It appears in his First Collection (1793). See also Shepherd's "Mr. Edmonstone of Newton’s Strathspey" and "Mrs. Edmonstoune of Newton’s Favorite."

The estate of Edmonstone is in the parish of Newton, four miles to the east of Edinburgh.
