MISS ELSPETH CAMPBELL. AKA - "Honorable Miss Elspeth Campbell (The)." Scottish, Pipe March (2/4 time). A Mixoldyian. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB'CCDD'. "Miss Elspeth Campbell" is the most popular composition of Thomas Douglas, a native of Cowal, Argyll, who was born around the beginning of the 20th century (note that Logan's Collection, c. 1905, credits "J. Douglas" with the composition). The march honors Miss Elsbeth Campbell (1873-1942), a founding member (and only woman) of the Piobaireachd Society. She was the daughter of Archibald Campbell, Lord Lorn, and granddaughter of the 8th Duke of Argyll.
