MISS GARDINER. Scottish. John Glen (1891) finds the earliest appearance of this tune in print in Daniel Dow's c. 1775 collection (p. 36). Dow also composed a "Miss Gardiner's Jig," printed in his Twenty Minuets and Sixteen Reels or Country Dances (1773), possibly for the same person.
