MISS HELEN CAMPBELL ARDMORE'S JIG. Scottish, Jig (6/8 time). F Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. "Miss Helen Campbell Ardmore's Jig" was first printed in Islay fiddler-composer biography:Alexander Mackay's Collection of Reels, Strathspeys and Slow Tunes (c. 1822). Miss Helen Campbell was probably one of the children of Archibald and Helen Campbell, owners of the small estate of Ardmore on the west coast of Islay, Argyllshire. Unlike may of the tunes in Mackay's collection that are named for the family, this tune was not attributed to Mackay. See note for "Mr. Archibald Campbell Ardmore's Reel" for more on the Campbells and Mackay.
