MISS HELEN MACINNES. Scottish, Jig. A Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. Composed by William Marshall (1748-1833). Moyra Cowie, in her book The Life and Times of William Marshall (1999), finds that Helen MacInnes was Marshall’s grand-daughter, who married Thomas McKenzie, and architect in Elgin, Scotland. The couple had five sons and one daughter, one of whom, Alexander Marshall McKenzie (1848-1933), himself became a architect of some renown, building Marischal College in Aberdeen and Australia House in the Strand, London.
