MISS MARRION CAMPBELL OF ARDMORE'S REEL. Scottish, Reel (cut time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. "Miss Marrion Campbell of Ardmore's Reel" was composed by Islay fiddler-composer biography:Alexander Mackay (born 1775) and appears in his c. 1822 Collection of Reels, Strathspeys and Slow Tunes. The tune references one of the children of Archibald and Helen Campbell of Ardmore, Islay. Mackay composed tunes for everyone in the family, but Marrion was the only one he composed two tunes for (see also "Miss Marrion Campbell Ardmore's Favorite"). See note for "annotation:Mr. Archibald Campbell Ardmore's Reel" for more on Mackay and the Campbell family.
