MISS MARY ANN URQUHART'S HIGH DANCE. Scottish, Country Dance (2/4 time). B Flat Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. "Miss Mary Ann Urquhart's High Dance" was printed in Montrose and Aberdeen dancing master and musician biography:Archibald Duff's Choice Selection (c. 1812), one of two tunes for the sisters Urquhart, Mary Ann and Elisabeth of Bothwell Castle. A 'High Dance' was another name for a choreographed solo dance akin to a ballet dance, not a group county dance with common figures. It was probably choreographed by Duff, but is now lost.
