MISS MARY ANN URQUHART'S HIGH DANCE. Scottish, Country Dance (2/4 time). B Flat Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. "Miss Mary Ann Urquhart's High Dance" was printed in Montrose and Aberdeen dancing master and musician Archibald Duff's Choice Selection (c. 1812), one of two tunes for the sisters Urquhart, Mary Ann and Elisabeth of Bothwell Castle. A 'High Dance' was another name for a choreographed solo dance akin to a ballet dance, not a group county dance with common figures. It was probably choreographed by Duff, but is now lost.
