A contender for the person of Riddell's title is Helen (Nelly?) Ferguson, daughter of Sir James Ferguson, Bart., of Kilkerran, married in March 1770 Sir James Dalrymple, 2nd Baronet, of Hailes House near Haddington, who was Auditor of the Exchequer in Scotland.
