MISS SIBBALD'S WALTZ. English, Waltz (3/8 time). F Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABBCC. "Miss Sibbald's Waltz" was composed byJohann Michael Weippert (1776-1831), from a German immigrant family who found success in the London music world of the late 18th and early 19th centuries. Weippert is referred to by publisher Campbell as "M. Weippert" in the printed volume, to differentiate him from his equally adept older brother, Johann Erhardt Weippert (1766-1823), whom he refers to as "E. Weippert," according to Paul Cooper. The Weippert family members were musicians, teachers, performers, bandleaders and music publishers, down to generations. Campbell designates the third strain as a "Harp Solo", perhaps in association with the Weipperts. Johann Erhardt Weippert was well known as a composer and harpist.
