MOCCASIN TWO-STEP. AKA - "Mocassin Shuffle." Canadian, Two-Step." Canada, New Brunswick. C Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB'. "Moccasin Two-Step" is from the playing of the late Joe Robichaud (d. 1999), a fiddler from northern New Hampshire who learned the tune from a trapper friend (or his father, by another account) who said he acquired it from a Native American (Micmac Indian) musician in New Brunswick. The tune was untitled, so Robichaud invented the name "Moccasin Two-Step" for his version. Joe is related by marriage to the well-known Riendeau family of Berlin, New Hampshire.

New Brunswick fiddler Oscar Robichaud, who is a friend of Joe Robichaud but who is unrelated, plays a similar version (with differences) that he calls "Moccasin Shuffle."
