MOLDAVIAN SCHOTTISCHE. English, Schottische (2/2 time). F Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABBCC. The liner notes of Brass Monkey's "Head of Steam indicated the tune was composed by Charles Louis Napoleon d'Albert (1809-), but it appears that it was French conductor and composer of light music, Louis Antoine Jullien [1] (1812-1860) who actually composed the schottische in 1855, one of his more popular works. Variants of the melody were absorbed into British tradition: see also "Beatrice Hill's Three Handed Reel," "Dennis Crowther's No. 3," "Jimmy o' the Bu's Polka," "Old Polka (The)" and "George Parkin's Schottische"
