MOLONIES GIG. Scottish, Jig. C Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABBCCDD. As "Molowny's Jigg" the tune was entered into the 1787 music copybook of English musician John Shepherd (pp. 46-47), while dance figures (only) for "Moloney's Jigg" appear in The English Archer (1800), a volume of country dances issued by Baltimore, Md., publishers Bonsal & Niles.
