MORNING MIST [2], THE. Irish, Reel. G Major/Mixolydian. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB (Black, McNulty, Mulvihill): AA'BB' (Connolly & Martin). Composed by County Galway accordion player Joe Burke while still in his teens. Séamus Connolly (2002) says that the first part of the tune came to Burke while cycling home one Sunday morning from the 11:30 mass in Loughrea, while the second part was worked out on the accordion in the afternoon. Burke played with the Leitrim Céilí Band in the 1950's but lived for many years in the United States before returning to East Galway. It was recorded by the late Bronx fiddler and teacher Martin Mulvihill.
