MR. DUGALD CAMPBELL ARDMORE'S FAVORITE. Scottish, Reel (cut time). A Minor. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. "Mr. Dugald Campbell Ardmore's Favorite" was composed by Islay fiddler-composer Alexander Mackay for a young Dugald Campbell (1811-1888), who would have been but a boy at the time. Mackay composed tunes for everyone in the large family of Archibald and Helen Campbell of Ardmore (see note for "Mr. Archibald Campbell Ardmore's Reel" for more). Dugald grew up to be Reverend Campbell, according to a note on Ancestry.com, but this has not been verified.
