MR. JOHN CAMPBELL. Canadian, Reel. Canada, Cape Breton. G Minor. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. Composed by Cape Breton fiddler and composer Dan R. MacDonald (1911-1976), for John Campbell (1929-2010), one of Cape Breton's greatest fiddle exponents of the 20th century, who was also a recording artist and teacher. Campbell was born in Glenora Falls, Cape Breton, but was a resident of Watertown, Massachusetts (near Boston), from the 1950's until his death, although he returned to Cape Breton regularly in the summer. See his most famous composition, "Sandy MacIntyre's Trip to Boston."
