MR. McLAE'S FAREWELL. Scottish, Reel or Strathspey. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The tune, perhaps a Scottish Measure, was first published by Glasgow musician James Aird in his fifth collection (1797). It was entered, along with numerous other's from Aird's 5th, into the large 1840 music manuscript collection of multi-instrumentalist John Rook, of Waverton, near Wigton, Cumbria.
