MR. SHERRIF’S WHIM. AKA and see "Sherriff's Whim." English, Country Dance Tune (whole time). F Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The melody was first published by Charles and Samuel Thompson in one of their annual collections of country dances, later compiled into their Compleat Collection, vol. 3 (London, 1773). It was entered into the large music manuscript collection of Northumbrian musician William Vickers as "Sherriff's Whim."
