MR. STEWART OLIPHANT OF ROSSIE. Scottish, Reel. F Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. The melody appears in Malcolm McDonald's c. 1792 3rd collection, dedicated to Miss Drummond of Perth. Under the title "Mrs. Stewart's Reel" the tune was printed in Tracy's selection of present favorite country dances, a small volume published in Dublin in the 1790's by a dancing master named Tracy. John Macpherson Mulhollan printed the tune as "Mr. Stuart of Rossie's Reel" in his Selection of Irish and Scots Tunes (Edinburgh, 1804).

The title may refer to James Stewart/Stuart Oliphant (1767-1847) Esq. of Rossie, Perthshire. The name Oliphant came from the Norwegian name Holifard/Holifarth
