MR. WILLIAM CAMPBELL ARDMORE'S REEL. Scottish, Reel (cut time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. "Mr. William Campbell Ardmore's Reel" was composed by Islay fiddler-composer Alexander Walker (born 1775) probably for one of the children of Archibald and Helen Campbell of Ardmore. Mackay composed tunes for each member of the family and included them in hisA Collection of Reels, Strathspeys and Slow Tunes (c. 1822). Ancestry.com does not list a William as one of the children born to the couple, but the entry may be incomplete. See note for "Mr. Archibald Campbell Ardmore's Reel" for more on the family.
