MR. WILLIAM DONALD'S FAVORITE. Scottish, Slow Air (4/4 time). B Flat Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. Composed by Aberdeenshire fiddler-composer biography:Alexander Walker (b. 1819) in honor of Mr. William Donald of Rhynie, Aberdeenshire. There is a grave marker in the Rhynie churchyard for William Donald (1807-1878), a watchmaker, whose wife (Isobell Hill) died young at age 22. They had a daughter before Mrs. Donald's death, Jane, who died in infancy. He was well-off enough to have had a house servant. In the Census of 1861 two William Donalds (Father & Son) are listed as watchmakers, living in Rhynie.
