MRS. ANDREW KIDD (Peterhead, now of Dundee). Scottish, Solo Strathspey (whole time). B Flat Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. "Mrs. Andrew Kidd" was composed by Aberdeenshire fiddler-composer and Scottish dancing master wikipedia:James_Scott_Skinner (1843-1927). Mrs. Kidd was one of Skinner's accompanists. Skinner's footnote in his Miller o' Hirn (1881) states that his compositions "Mary Walker" and "Mrs. Andrew Kidd" "...please me well for my concerts as they have nothing of the 'doodle' in them. They were composed in Peterhead in April, 1876, and remarkably well played on the piano by Mrs. Kidd."

Andrew Kidd (or Kydd) was an architect from Dundee who, in the 1860's, married Isabella J. Hunter, born in New Pitsligo, Aberdeenshire. She had close relatives in Peterhead and it was almost certainly through these connections that Kidd obtained work in Peterhead. He was proposed as Peterhead School Board Architect in 1873 and designed several buildings there around 1876. In 1880 Kidd and his sisters challenged their father's will as they claimed his wife had taken advantage of the old man's state of mind in order to have to will written in her favour. However they were not successful. Andrew and Isabella returned to Dundee where he continued his practice, and by 1901 is described as retired.
