"Mrs. Marshall's Reel, Edinburgh" was first published in Elgin fiddler, composer and music teacher James Taylor's first collection, c. 1835. It is one of a few tunes in the collection attributed to 'R. MacDonald', who also composed the companion melody "Mr. Marshall's Strathspey Edinburgh."
