MRS. PHILIP DUNDAS'S REEL. Scottish, Reel. C Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. Composed by Biography:William Shepherd. Philip Dundas (c. 1763-1807) was a British East India naval officer, president of the East India Marine Board and superintendent of Bombay. After his return to Britain, he became a Member of Parliament, and took a final posting to the Far East as Governor of Prince of Wales Island, an important outpost in what is now Malaysia. He died of disease within two years of taking his post.

Dundas was married twice. His first wife, Penelope Ford Lindsay of Dublin, would have been the "Mrs. Philip Dundas" referred to in Shepherd's title. They married in 1790, and there was no issue from this marriage. She died in 1802.
