MRS. REID OF ADAMTON'S FAVOURITE. Scottish, Reel (cut time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. Robert Reid purchased Adamton House, Monkton, Ayr, from the Blair family (in whose possession it had been for many generations) in 1783. In 1787 he married Jean Campbell of Treesbank, who died in 1789. Their only child, a daughter named Helen (after her maternal grandmother), died in 1790. Adamton House still stands, now converted to a hotel.
