Back to My Father[edit]

MY FATHER. Canadian, Reel. Canada, Cape Breton. D Dorian. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Composed by fiddler Brenda Stubbert (b. 1959, Point Aconi, Cape Breton) in honor of her father, Robert Stubbert (1923-2008), also a fiddler from whom she learned much repertoire. Her father's brother, Lauchie Stubbert, was also a well-known fiddler; both played with Irish influences. Robert was a coal miner and fisherman for many years, but learned to play the fiddle at age seven and gave his first concert at age eight.
