MY PRETTY GAZELLE. American, Air (6/8 time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). One part. The tune appears in the violin tutor of biography:George Saunders of Providence, Rhode Island, composed by G.A. Hodson. Saunders was a music teacher (self-professed "Professor of Music and Dancing") and ran a music shop where he sold instruments and sheet music. He also was in demand as a dance caller and musician from 1820's until his death in 1850. Hodson was a musician, arranger and composer, some of whose works ("The Midshipman’s Farewell" and "The Arab Steed") can still be found in on-line collections. He was a contemporary of Saunders.
