Back to My Uncle Toby[edit]

MY UNCLE TOBY. English, Air (3/8 time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The melody is unique to Charles and Samuel Thompson's 1765 country dance collection. The title perhaps refers to a character in Lawrence Sterne's novel Tristram Shandy (1759), the narrator's Uncle Toby, "who is gentle, uncomplicated, and a lover of his fellow man."
