NEARY'S. AKA and see "By Golly." AKA - "Jim Neary's," "Jimmy Neary's." Irish, Jig (6/8 time). D Major/Mixolydian. Standard tuning (fiddle). AA'BB'. The title comes from association with fiddler Jim Neary, originally from County Mayo, who emigrated to Chicago in the 1920's. The home of Jim and his wife and pianist Eleanor ("Eleanor Neary's") was regarded as a musical haven for Irish musicians in Chicago [Brian McNamara]. The alternate title comes from an exclamation frequently employed by Chicago fiddler Johnny McGreevy (1919-1990), with whom the tune is also associated.
