NEIL R. MACDONALD STRATHSPEY. Canadian, Strathspey. Canada, Cape Breton. A Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Composed by the fiddler-composer Dan R. MacDonald (1911–1976) of Inverness, Nova Scotia. Neil R. MacDonald was a fine musician friend of his, but no relation. Paul Cranford notes that Cape Breton fiddlers play the low 'G' note as a 'natural' note i.e. not sharp. See also Dan R.'s composition "Mrs. Neil R. MacDonald."
