NEW COLDSTREAM MARCH [2]. English, March (4/4 time). C Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The melody appears in print in several publications of the latter 18th century, including Longman & Lukey's A Fourth Collection of Twenty Four Favorite Marches in 5 Parts (London, 1770), Samuel, Ann & Peter Thompson's Compleat Instuctions for the Clarinet (1785) and The Compleat Tutor for the Hautboy (1790) and Astor's Entire New, and Complete Instructions for the Guittar (1800). It was also entered into the music copybooks English musician William Clark (c. 1770, Lincoln, perhaps at a later date, in a different hand), and of American musicians Henry Beck (1786) and Silas Dickinson (Amherst, Mass., c. 1800).
