NEW REPEALER'S REEL, THE. AKA and see "Mammy's Pet (2)." Irish, Reel (cut time). D Mixolydian. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB'. "New Repealer's Reel" is contained in the late 19th/early 20th century music manuscript in the possession of curate and fiddler biography:Rev. Luke Donnellan (1878-1952), of the Oriel region, south Ulster. Donnellan had two sharps in the key signature, amended by Gerry O'Connor to one sharp (who found Donnellan's key signatures often required some editing).

The Repeal Association was an Irish mass membership political movement set up by Daniel O'Connell in 1830 to campaign for a repeal of the Acts of Union of 1800 between Great Britain and Ireland.
