NEW WATERFORD. Canadian, Jig. Canada, Cape Breton. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Composed by fiddler and prolific composer Dan R. MacDonald. New Waterford [1] is a fishing and (formerly) coal-mining town on Cape Breton island, north of Sydney and northwest of Glace Bay. It is named for Waterford in Ireland, a name that reflects the Irish immigrant population that settled in the northeast of Cape Breton. Pianist Doug MacPhee is from New Waterford.
