NEW WHIM, THE. English, Country Dance Tune (2/4 time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The melody is unique to London publisher Charles an Samuel Thompson's 1765 country dance collection. Presumably the title was meant to be associated with the popular older country dance called "Whim."
