NEWCASTLE BRIDGE. AKA and see "Col. Ridley's Quick March." Scottish, Jig. A Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Composed by Abraham Mackintosh (b. 1769), son of Robert 'Red Rob' Mackintosh. Although born in Scotland, Mackintosh established himself in Newcastle in the midst of his career as a music teacher and dancing master. "Newcastle Bridge" was composed by Macintosh as "Col. Ridley's Quick March," and appears in his Collection of Strathspeys, Reels, Jigs, etc.
