NIGER'S QUADRILLE [4]. AKA - "Niger's Quadrille No. 4." English, Quadrille part (6/8 time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). ABCC. "Niger's Quadrille [4]" is part of a quadrille set derived from blackface minstrel repertory, which had become popular in England when imported in the mid-1840's. It is contained in the mid-19th century music manuscript of William Winter (1774-1861), a shoemaker and violin player who lived in West Bagborough in Somerset, southwest England.
