NIGGER[1] ON THE (?)REAT. American, Reel (2/4 time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The tune appears in an anonymous musician's music manuscript collection (probably a fiddler) dating to 1862, included among cotillions, polkas, waltzes and other dance tunes. Similarities to "Gaston" in Knauff's 1839 publication, and the minstrel tune "Hoop-de-doo-den-doo (2)."
