NIGHT WE MADE THE MATCH, THE (An oidce do rinneamar an reite/cleamnas). Irish, Hornpipe. A Mixolydian. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Hans Nathan, in his book about the blackface minstrel Daniel Decateur Emmett, asserts that strains from this tune contributed to the formation of Emmett's popular "Wabash Jig", AKA "Hell on the Wabash (5)" (Bayard, 1981, p. 352).
