NOVELTY [2], THE. AKA and see "Eclipse (3) (The)." American, Clog. A Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AA'BBCAA'BB. The composition is attributed to F. A. Morrison in Ryan's Mammoth Collection. Unfortunately, nothing is known about the composer. Irish musicians play the tune as "The Eclipse," a title that probably gained currency through a mistake by influential Belfast fiddler Sean McGuire (1927-2005).
